America’s Promise has a pretty ambitious five-year goal: Change the lives of 15 million underserved young people through the power of the Five Promises. How do they plan to achieve this? By identifying and providing kids with five essential resources they need in order to thrive. These Five Promises are: caring adults, safe places, a healthy start, effective education and opportunities to help others. America’s Promise also works tirelessly to ensure that every child receives these Five Promises by mobilizing Americans to make young people an urgent national priority. And because a concerted effort is the only way to reach that goal, America’s Promise builds cross-sector partnerships involving communities, business, government, nonprofits, donors, parents, volunteers and young people themselves. America’s Promise believes these five promises can increase high school completion and college enrollment rates. Increase civic engagement.
