Autism Speaks
Autism Speaks is a non-profit organization dedicated to giving hope to all who deal with the hardships associated with the puzzling disorder, autism. A complex neurobiological disorder, autism typically impairs a person's ability to communicate with and relate to others throughout their lifetime. Affecting about 1 in 166 children, it’s more common than pediatric cancer, diabetes and AIDS combined. And it occurs in all racial, ethnic, and social groups. Yet surprisingly, many people don’t know much, if anything about it. Which is where Autism Speaks comes in. Their main goals are to educate the public about autism, provide and maintain a far-reaching support network, be an advocate for legislation and fund biomedical research that may someday lead to a cure. Visit www.autismspeaks.org to find out more. And then don’t almost give. Give.
