United Way understands that people like to make a difference right where they live. We want to help them do that. Their experience tells us that the best way to help the most people is to focus on the underlying causes of the most serious problems. They work on different issues in different communities, but the most common focus areas helping children and youth succeed, improving access to health care, promoting self-sufficiency, and strengthening families. It takes the whole community working together to reach our goals in these areas. So they bring together people from government, business, organized labor, faith groups, nonprofits, and everyday citizens.
