National Crime Prevention Council
Take a bite out of crime. The National Crime Prevention Council (NCPC) is a non-profit educational organization whose basic mission is to enable people to create safer communities by teaching them the causes of crime and violence and how to reduce the opportunities for crime to occur. What does this mean? Well, it means that the NCPC teaches people how to stop crime in their neighborhoods before it starts. To achieve this, NCPC provides communities with various crime prevention tools that they can use to help protect themselves and coordinate with local law enforcement agencies. Tools like community education publications, local crime prevention and training programsm and educational public service broadcast messages featuring McGruff the Crime Dog. What is your role? That’s up to you, but you can start by visiting www.ncpc.org. Help organize community action and interaction. And help teach your community to take responsibility for what happens in and around it. Basically, you can give, instead of almost giving. Which is a very good start indeed.
